Most Puissant Grand Master, Most Illustrious Companion Barry MacLeanM.I.C. Barry MacLean was born and raised in Sydney, Cape Breton. After High School,
he attended Trade School, taking the Heavy-Duty Mechanic apprenticeship course. He completed his apprenticeship, earning his Interprovincial License while living and working in Fort McMurray. After returning to Nova Scotia, he went to work for National Gypsum at Milford N.S for the next 35 1/2 years and worked in various positions throughout the company and retired in 2022 as the manager of the ship loading dock facility in Dartmouth. |
Companion MacLean was a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, retiring as Deputy Chief of the Shubenacadie Volunteer Fire Department in 2016.
Companion MacLean has been married to his wife, Nicola, for over 25 years and has an adult daughter and son from a previous marriage and two adult stepdaughters.
Companion MacLean began his Masonic journey in 2008 when he joined Elm Lodge #115 in Upper Stewiacke where he was the WM for the years of 2012,2013 and 2015. He served as D.G.D.C for Colchester District in 2011 - 2012, and as D.D.G.M. of Colchester District in 2022 - 2023. He affiliated with W.D. Lawrence Lodge #101 in 2022.
He joined Keith Chapter #4 in Truro in 2009 and served as High Priest in 2016 and received the Order of the High Priesthood the same year.
He joined Lion of Judah Council #19 in 2009 in Great Village and served as T.I.M from 2013 to 2017, when the Council went in Darkness. He received the Order of the Silver Trowel in 2015. After Lion of Judah went into Darkness, he affiliated with Chebucto-Richardson Council #3 in Halifax. He joined Cobequid Royal Ark Mariners Lodge in 2009, which at the time, was moored to Lion of Judah and Orient Council #5 in New Glasgow where he is still an active member.
In 2019, he joined Malta Preceptory, Knights Templar, in New Glasgow and in 2022 affiliated with Antiquity Preceptory in Halifax.
